Ciabatta Bread

Ingredients

  • Bread flour: 4 cups
  • Water: 1½ cups, warm
  • Active dry yeast: 1 packet 2¼ tsp
  • Olive oil: 2 tbsp
  • Salt: 2 tsp

Directions

  • Mix warm water and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large bowl, mix bread flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently shape it into two loaves. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Let the loaves rise for another 30-45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Bake the loaves for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crusty.
  • Cool before slicing and enjoy the chewy, airy texture.
