Chicken Tikka Masala

Ingredients
- Yogurt Marinade
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 ½ tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 ½ lbs chicken breast, cubed
- Sauce
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 tsp ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 ¼ cups heavy cream
- ¼ cup water, if needed
- Cilantro for garnish
Directions
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, garam masala, chili powder, salt, ginger, and garlic. Add chicken, coat well, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sear until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Melt butter in the same pan. Sauté onions until soft, then add ginger and garlic, cooking for 30 seconds.
- Stir in brown sugar, coriander, cumin, paprika, and garam masala. Cook for 15 seconds.
- Pour in tomato sauce and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thick.
- Stir in heavy cream, then return chicken to the pan. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Thin sauce with water if needed. Serve with rice and naan.
