Ingredients

  • Yogurt Marinade
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 ½ lbs chicken breast, cubed
  • Sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 ¼ cups heavy cream
  • ¼ cup water, if needed
  • Cilantro for garnish

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, garam masala, chili powder, salt, ginger, and garlic. Add chicken, coat well, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sear until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  • Melt butter in the same pan. Sauté onions until soft, then add ginger and garlic, cooking for 30 seconds.
  • Stir in brown sugar, coriander, cumin, paprika, and garam masala. Cook for 15 seconds.
  • Pour in tomato sauce and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thick.
  • Stir in heavy cream, then return chicken to the pan. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Thin sauce with water if needed. Serve with rice and naan.
