Ingredients
- Bone broth:
- 3-4 quarts water
- 1 ham bone (large, from spiraled ham)
- 1 onion
- 2 zucchini
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- Soup:
- 1 large onion or transfer the cooked onions from the bone broth above
- 1 carrot (sliced)
- 4-5 celery stalks (chopped)
- 1-2 lb ham (cubed or chopped (or other protein of your choice)) (I use a Ham bone from the holidays and whatever meat is left on it)
- 1 Head of cabbage
- 2 zucchini
- 6 cups broth (chicken or vegetable) (or homemade bone broth from hambone
- 1 tsp redmonds seasoned Salt
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 24 oz frozen cauliflower (cooked)
- 1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 5 green onions chopped (or another herb))
Directions
- 1. Bone Broth
- 2. Fill your pot with cold water, then add the ham bone, chopped onion, bay leaves, sea salt, and apple cider vinegar.
- 3. You can pressure cook these ingredients for 2 hours or alternatively cook the broth in a slow cooker or on the stove top for at least 12 hours or longer
- 4. Meanwhile, blend the cooked cauliflower with heavy whipping cream until smooth, about 1 minute.
- 5. CROCKPOT: Layer the ingredients in your crockpot starting with the cabbage. Pour the broth over the top and add seasonings. Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. Pour in the cream and blended cauliflower mixture and heat for 30 minutes. Stir and serve.
- 6. INSTANT POT: Press the sauté button and let it heat. Add oil and cook onion, carrot, and celery until onion is tender (about 3 minutes). Place the cabbage, vegetables, and ham in your Instant Pot.
- 7. Sprinkle on your seasonings. Pour the broth over the top. Seal the lid and turn the valve. Set your pressure cooker or Instant Pot to manual, high pressure, and cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, allow for a natural release for 10 minutes, followed by releasing the rest of the pressure. Add the cream that you blended with the cauliflower and stir. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- Note: I added extra ingredients to this recipe so I didn’t have room to add the cream so I transferred to a bigger pot from the instant pot to add the cream.
- Alternatively you can add all the ingredients and cook stovetop in a big pot until the veggies are desired tenderness.
- This recipe would be awesome with sausage added!
