- 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
- 1 Tbsp Sriracha ((optional for heat))
- 3 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
- 2 tsp MSG ((optional for umami))
- 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Smoked Paprika
Directions
- 1. Combine all the ingredients for the marinade in a large bowl.
- 2. Slice the tofu into thin strips using either a sharp knife, mandolin, or cheese slicer.
- 3. Dip each tofu strip in the marinade and coat thoroughly. Let the excess drip off.
- 4. Baking Method
- 5. Preheat oven to 375 F / 190 C
- 6. Line a large baking sheet either with parchment paper or a wire rack. After dipping tofu slices, add to to the baking sheet.
- 7. Bake for 25 minutes and flip. Bake for another 15 - 25 minutes, checking every 10 minutes or so to make sure you don't burn them. If you start to see any blackened edges, that's a good sign to pull them out. Don't worry if they aren't super crispy at this point. They will crisp up as they cool, so let them rest for a few minutes before digging in!
- 8. Air Fryer Method
- 9. Spray the Air Fryer basket or tray with a little oil. Add as many slices of tofu bacon as possible with out them overlapping. Air fry at 375 F / 190 C for 6 minutes. Flip and Air Fry for another 6 minutes or until crispy. Keep an eye on them to make sure they don't burn! They will crisp up more as they cool, so let them cool for a few minutes before digging in!
