Crockpot overnight oatmeal

Serving size: 4
Cook time: 7 hours

Ingredients

  • For the crockpot:
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • Optional to add before starting (we prefer ours plain):
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Suggested embellishments:
  • Butter
  • Maple syrup or honey (we prefer maple syrup)
  • Milk or cream
  • Sliced banana

Directions

  • 1. Combine all ingredients except honey and banana in crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours overnight.
  • 2. Serve with desired toppings like maple syrup or honey and banana slices.
  • 3. Set your crock pot to low and time for 6-8 hours, depending on how it seems best for you.

Notes

  • I took her recipe and adapted to the way we do it at our house.
  • We use the slow cooker option on our Instant Pot, which allows us to delay the start of cooking until the desired time to deliver yummy bowls of oatmeal in the morning at breakfast time.
