Daily morning lemon water detox

Ingredients
- 1 cup, filtered, room temperature water or warm water
- 1 fresh lemon, sliced ⅓ inch thick, seedless or seeds removed
- Sharp knife
- Mug
- Tea kettle if warming the water
- Durable Straw, bamboo or stainless steel
Directions
- 1. 30 minutes to one hour before breakfast, follow the steps below.
- 2. In a tea kettle, fill with water.
- 3. Heat kettle on medium-high heat for about 65 seconds (set a timer).
- 4. Turn off the heat.
- 5. Add the lemon slice to the mug.
- 6. Pour about an inch or so of water so it covers the lemon.
- 7. Using the straw, press down into the juice sacs to extract the juice. Press down several times throughout the lemon slice.
- 8. Let the lemon steep in the water for about five minutes.
- 9. Pour additional water from the tea kettle into the mug (about 8 oz.).
- 10. Using the straw, sip the lemon water while journaling in your gratitude journal.
- 11. Enjoy!
- 12. Repeat every morning or as needed.
Notes
- 1. Lemon skin is tough so to avoid injury, use a sharp knife.
- 2. Feel free to add some local honey.
- 3. Before slicing into a whole lemon, using firm pressure, roll the lemon a few times. This helps release the seeds and juice.
- 4. Lemon water can help reduce congestion in the liver which can help improve its function like filtering out toxins.
- 5. Important: If warming the water, do not overheat the water because it could weaken the lemon's beneficial properties.
