Chicken Paprikash
Main Dish • Chicken/Poultry (pieces), Easy (hard to screw up), Low spoons
Ingredients
- 3+ lbs boneless chicken
- 1.5 cup chicken broth
- black pepper
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup paprika (this is not a typo)
- 1 tsp marjoram
- 1 red bell pepper, in strips
- 1 shallot, in thin slices
- 3 Tbsp tomato paste (~50g)
- 1/2 cup light sour cream
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
- carb to serve over (noodles/dumplings are probably most traditional, we like mashed potatoes)
Directions
- Everything in the first section, into the slow cooker, about 3-4 hours on low or until stuff falls apart.
- Mix the last 3 ingredients together and add to the crockpot, let heat through with the lid off while you prepare your carbs.
- pour over carbs!
Notes
- we usually use chicken thighs for this, just remove the big chunks of fat. You could use something with bones in, but account for their weight so you still have 3+ lbs of meat.
- this recipe also works with rabbit but if you brined the rabbit to take out the gameyness, then don't add salt at the end.
- Thyme is fine if you don't have marjoram on hand
